Well, today I opened my inbox and saw a very exciting email.
We made it through to the final stage of the UK Blog Awards 2019!
When I embarked on this journey I honestly thought nothing of it. I signed up on a whim like oh this could be a fun thing. I probably wont get far but it could be a fun experience. The next thing I know I am sailing through to the final and I still can’t quite believe it!
Thank you all so much to everyone who voted for me during the previous stage. I appreciate it so so much. Thank you to everyone who reads my blog too. I don’t know if this is a universal blogger mindset but I always have it in my head that nobody is reading my content. I just put it out there and hope it helps someone but I never expect anyone to actually be reading it. If you would like to go back and read my initial post announcement about the previous stage you can do so here.
So, You’re a Finalist. What’s Next?
The email explained that things are going to be a little bit different this year.
Firstly that the annual ‘event’ on 12th April this year is going to be a much smaller affair. Instead of a big event in London like previous years, this time round they have decided to live stream the announcements on IG TV and Facebook Live. Why? Because the cost and time involved in putting on an event of this scale detracts from their vision for the company. They want to run events that will actually help and empower bloggers and our blogging journies. I definitely understand why they have done this. It’s a nice thought to be invited to a big glitzy event in London, however for many (including myself) it is a huge expense (coming into London, accommodation, outfit etc.) Especially if you don’t win. the whole evening can feel like a bit of a waste of money.
So instead, #UKBA2019 will be as follows:
- For the winners and the highly commended bloggers for #UKBA19 – They will host an intimate winners dinner in London (TBC) where the winners will receive a trophy, a goody bag and will be able to sit down with the judges, the sponsors and their fellow bloggers and discuss their blog and their future career. They will have a professional photographer in attendance and we will capture the entire evening.
- Throughout 2019 they are putting on a series of events throughout the country that will be FREE to all finalists for #UKBA19 (that’s me!) These events will cover ALL sorts of topics, from SEO and tech (this will be hosted by Google at the Google Campus), to design and branding and even some informal networking events to meet other bloggers.
- They are working with the company The Blogger Programme this year – a dedicated blogger platform and agency that works with some of the most incredible brands in the UK (and worldwide) today – every finalist will have the opportunity to be introduced to this company in the hopes of striking up a partnership with them.
Thank you all so much for voting
Thank you all so much for voting and getting me here! I wouldn’t be in this position without you all. I appreciate each and every one of you and I am extremely excited to see where this fantastic opportunity takes my content in 2019.
